ミスターチルドレンは日本的なバンドだと思う。
ありとあらゆる音楽を飲みこんできたロックまでも吸収して、歌謡曲としてしまう。
そんな圧倒的な吸収性を持っていた歌謡曲と、どんな音楽も貪欲に飲みこんでいくミスターチルドレンはすごく近いものを感じる。
もちろん、それが鼻につく人間も多いんだろう。

あるいは偽善的な歌詞が鼻につく人間も多いんだろう。
でも、僕はそういった、青臭くて、気紛れで、偽善的で、未完成な人間くさいミスターチルドレンが好きだ。
気張ってみたり、肩の力を抜いてみたり。等身大の人間って感じでいいじゃないですか。

自分には到底できないことをやってのける音楽も良いけれど、ポップで等身大なミスターチルドレンの音楽もまた良いものですよ。

できればもっと肩の力を抜いた曲を収録して欲しかったな。

前期のベストに比べると、やや静かな雰囲気がある。
が、その曲や歌詞は前期に比べてかなり深いものになっている。
前期とあわせて聞くと、
だんだんミスチルが「成長」しているのに気づいてくる。
「終わりなき旅」や「口笛」のようなナンバーが印象的である反面、
「ニシエヒガシエ」や「光の射すほうへ」という、
ロックなナンバーもある。

とにかく「飽きないアルバム」であるので何度でも聞けると思う。

せつないラブソングがたくさんある中、ハードロックな曲もあるなど
味わい深いアルバムです。
僕的には｢Everything」や｢NOT FOUND」などのバラード系がお勧めです！

1992-1995と合わせて聞くと、初期のミスチルと全盛期のミスチル
の成長や違いが少しづつわかっていきます。
歌詞カードに書かれている説明文も知らなかったことがわかってちょっと嬉しくなります★

やっぱり桜井さんの書く歌詞にも感動ですよ！
なんであんなにいい歌詞が書けるのか・・読みながら思ってしまいます。
歌詞一つ一つを読んでみるのもまた一つの楽しみ方です！

とにかく、どの曲も最高にいい曲です！！
聞かなきゃ損です！
