ＮＨＫの”ＳＯＮＧＳ”やスマスマのみならず、なんと紅白にまで出演してしまって、大昔からのファンとしては嬉しいような何か複雑な気分ですが、それでもこれから新しいファンが増えて、彼女の音楽の素晴らしさをもっともっと知ってもらいたいなと感じています。さてそんな人達に絶対チェックしてもらいたいのがこの作品。”夢をあきらめないで”のヒットの後一気にメジャーに駆け上っていった頃の最もミュージシャンとして脂の乗っていた時期の珠玉のベスト集です。今聴いても全く古さを感じさせない（”見返してやるんだわ”を除く）まさに「バイブル」と言っていいでしょう。

AfterToneに比べて音が厚くなっています。また、AfterToneIIIやAfterTomeIVのようにあっけらかんと幸せを謳歌せず、抑制がきいています。AfterToneシリーズの中ではベストの一枚です。
全編を通して、まるで世界の終わりのようなはかなさが漂っています。それが実にいい。ドライブしながら聴くのもよいでしょう。

90年発表の、岡村孝子さんのベスト盤第2弾ですが
前作があみん解散後〜ソロ活動初期にあった、人生の悩みや暗さ･焦燥感などから抜け出した頃を越えて
「夢をあきらめないで」のヒット以降の風通しの良い状態をそのままパッケージしているので
全体的に爽快感のある楽曲が多く収められています。
特に「TODAY」「心の草原」「終わらない夏」など、アップテンポな曲はそれが顕著です。


そこから、After Tone3〜4までは幸せいっぱいの状態が続き、5では色々な経験をし新たなる思いを綴っていくわけですが
このベスト盤のシリーズの中で、特に2は孝子さんのキャリアを知る術の中ではすっと入り込めるのではないでしょうか？
