ＯＬになって高望みして、いつも間にか婚期を失している。
それを仕事が忙しいせいにしている
そんな女性の心を代弁しているんでしょうか？

電車に乗りながら、そういう女性を観察する機会が多々あります。
そういうときに岡村孝子の諸々の歌がよみがえります。

どの曲も朝の満員電車の中で聞いていると
けだるさを忘れて
いつの間にか目的の駅に着いています。

「夢をあきらめないで」を合唱祭で歌っているクラスがあり、この曲聴きたさにレンタルレコードに走りました。でも、他の曲も素晴らしい。一時期、すごく聴いていたので、10年以上経った今でも、どの曲もよく覚えています。「はぐれそうな天使」が今は一番好き。

2005年に生まれた、徹底的にバカで熱い、愛すべき青春映画の新たな佳作『逆境ナイン』。その原作者と監督が共に愛し、いわば必然的にテーマソングとなった永遠の名曲「夢をあきらめないで」―映画『時をかける少女』などを彷佛とさせる、ほのぼのとしたエンディング画面と曲とのマッチングが最高！―は今日、さまざまな形で聴くことができるが、そんな中でもこの曲は、ぜひこのアルバムで手許に置いていただきたい。これはそんな、個人的に激しくおすすめしたい１枚である。

さて、このアルバムは、岡村さん初期の３作『夢の樹』『私の中の微風』『liberte』（それと、あみん時代の楽曲を新たに録音したミニ・アルバム『Andantino』）からのセルフ・セレクション。カリブ海モンセラット島のAIRスタジオ―ジョージ・マーティン氏所有―で87年、リミックスされた（４、５、７を除く）。はかなさと強さが、そして、どこか懐かしい感じと新鮮さが同居した、渇いた心にうるおいを与えてくれる魅力的な音世界が、およそ１時間にわたって展開されている。なお、この時期のアレンジは田代修二氏、そして『ロードス島戦記』（OVAほか）の音楽でも知られる萩田光雄（光男）氏らがいい仕事をしているのだが、２の「はぐれそうな天使」が来生えつこ・たかお姉弟の作品であることも含め、ライナーにはクレジットされていない。ちょっと残念。
ちなみに、このアルバムからのシングル・カットという形で、シングル「電車／リベルテ」が発売されていた。
