　映画自体は傑作なので、いまさらストーリー等には言及する必要はないだろう。問題はDVDのクオリティーである。まず、冒頭のタイトルからがっかりさせられた。黒地に赤いタイトルがでるはずなのだが、このタイトルからしてボケボケで、文字を判読することができないのだ。さらに本編に進むと、画質がひどいのに唖然とさせられる。これであれば以前、テレビ放映時に３倍速で録ったビデオテープの方がましなのではないかと思えてしまう。

　せっかくの傑作なのだから、こんなテレシネでは映画が可哀想です。映画は星５つだが、画質において大減点は免れない。できる限りの努力をしたのであれば仕方ないが、どうもそのようには感じられないのだ。

ほとんど不良品まがいの画質です。どうしてこういう代物を、こういう価格で出せるのか、全く日本のメーカーの人たちの神経というのは不思議でなりません。米国では高画質のスコープサイズのレターボックス版ＬＤ（このＤＶＤよりはるかに暗部階調性があり鮮明です）のマスターが存在しているのだから、その使用宇許可をとればいいだけなのに、それもケチったということなのでしょう。こういうソフトは早く市場から駆逐してもらいたいものです。

画質がこれほどひどいとは・・・・。早く廃盤希望。
そしてリメイクが公開(個人的にはなかなか良かった)されたので、それにあわせてニューリリースとして「要塞警察」が出るのではとひそかに期待中。カーペンターファンはそういった人たちが多いのでは?
