まだ洋楽を聴き始めた中３頃、音楽的にマセタ友達に「レゲエってどんな音楽？」ってきいたら、「ベースがメロディーを弾いて、ギターがリズムを弾く音楽である」って明確かつ適切に答えてくれたのが忘れられない！レゲエ（なかんずくこのライブ盤）を説明する適切な言葉を４０になった今も見つけられずにいる！そんでもって彼が「これを聴いてみい」って貸してくれたのがこの名盤！
　「ノーウーマンノークライ」の感動的なイントロ！イントロからして歌いまくるオーディエンスの熱さ！すばらしすぎるギターソロ！音楽の歴史的にも私個人的にも画期的な一枚！

ライブ盤とは何か、それに直接答えを出してくれるおそらくは史上最高のライブアルバム。セッティングされたラインから届く音を記録したコンサートの実況ではなく、観客席の一番前のそのまた前に立ち、目の前にボブを感じることが出来る。レゲエとかいう範疇をとっくに飛び越えたボブの声も、ウェイラーズのダイナミズムあふれる演奏も全てがこの世に不可欠な物としてここでは輝いている。時には相手に語りかけ、時には群衆を鼓舞する、ここにおさめられた曲全てがその役割を担いながらも独自の魅力を持つ名曲揃い。「No woman,no cry」が始まると、まるで人類への祈りの時間です、とでも言うように時間が止まります。

ボブ・マーレイの最高傑作と言えるライブ盤。昔高校生の頃、ボーダーという漫画があり、その中でボブ・マーレイとこのライブ盤が出てきて、それから聞き始めた。これは余談として、ここで聞ける演奏は神がかり的な雰囲気がある。各パート同士のコールアンドレスポンス、息使いが聞こえてくる。またそれは客にも波及し、グルーブ空間を作り出している。5の後半、盛り上がってくる箇所、ギターソロ、7の盛り上がりなど聞き所が多い。というかアルバム全般をとおして、楽曲、演奏ともに素晴らしく、そんな瞬間を見事にレコードに残した、まさしくライブ盤の見本である。
