　まだ「ABBA」という名前になる前の4人の作品です。タイトル曲「Ring Ring」は、60年代フレーバー溢れるPOP Songで、フィル・スペクターあたりの影響が色濃く出ています。母国スェーデンでのスェーデン語版1位、英語版2位の1-2フィニッシュをはじめ、ヨーロッパ各国でヒットしましたが、英国や米国では全くヒットしませんでした。ちなみに「Ring Ring」英語の歌詞は、ニール・セダカが彼の共作者とともに作ったもので、ビヨルンによるものではありません。

　この頃の彼らは、まだ方向性を探っている状態で、ビヨルンとアグネタ、ベニーとフリーダはそれぞれ結婚、もしくは婚約をしていましたが、今風に言えばビヨルン＆ベニー、アグネタ、フリーダと言う３組のアーティストによるユニットという感覚だったようです。

　収録曲も、ビヨルン＆ベニー名義の「木枯らしの少女」や、ビヨルンとアグネタの共作曲(ABBAとしては唯一)「Dillusion」、ビヨルン＆ベニー、アグネタ＆アニフリード名義のデビュー曲「People Needs Love」など、あちこちから寄せ集めてきた印象はぬぐえず、まだABBAらしい独特かつ完成度の高い作品を生み出すには至っていません。ボーカルも、ビヨルンによるものが多く、女性ボーカルのABBAを当たり前に思って聞くと驚きます。それでも後の大成長の片鱗はそこかしこに見え隠れしていますし、若さ故の勢いや、本人達の楽しんでいる感じも伝わってきますので、ABBAの魅力にはまってしまった人には楽しめる作品だと思います。

アバがようやくアバとなって出した最初のアルバムです。素朴で、あたたかみのある曲ばかりです。アバが結成される前のビヨルンとベニ-が日本の世界歌謡祭で歌った「木枯らしの少女」も入っています。当時のフォーク全盛の日本では、よく流行りました。アバとしてデビューした、まだ初々しい作品です。その後、破竹の勢いで世界を制覇した、まさに「アバの原点」です。
