直訳すると「子豚たち」というナイスなバンド名。ピギーズは僕が敬愛する日本産パワーポップバンドだ。
男女混合のメンバー編成から織り成されるそのサウンドは、まさに子豚のように愛くるしいナンバーのオンパレード。

アレンジや構成はとてもシンプルで、悪く言え"ありきたり"なのだが、それを補って有り余るほどの抜群のメロディーセンスが彼らの最大の武器だ。
こんなにシンプルなのに、これだけ飽きずに聴ける作品も珍しいのではないだろうか。
メンバー全員が曲ごとにボーカルをとるスタイルも、曲に広がりを持たせ飽きさせない要素の一つであろう。

これは全てのガールズポップファン必聴の、超名盤アルバムだと断言したい。
2001年にバンドは解散したが、リーダーのtestuはTHE SQUEAKSというバンドで活躍中。
こちらもPIGGIESと同じく超ポップなナンバーが軒を連ねるので、PIGGIES好きには是非とも聴いてもらいたい。
