７４年発表の２ｎｄ。『さかしま』の邦題で日本でも親しまれている彼らの代表作であると同時に、全英８位にまで登ったヒット作でもある。ちなみに３．も８位にまで登るシングル・ヒットになった。この曲はコミカルな草笛風のシンセのソロが物凄く印象的であり、ことあるごとにテレビなどに使用されていた。そんなわけで彼らの曲とは知らずに聞いたことがある人も多いかもしれない。ギターのフレーズが印象的な６．も彼らの代表曲の一つだろう。オリジナル・メンバーによるコックニー・レベルの作品としては本作が最後となり、この作品発表後のツアーの後、スチュワート・エリオット(Dr) 以外のメンバーは脱退することとなった。以降の作品はスティーヴ・ハーリーがメンバーを集めて作ったソロ的な作風が濃厚になるので、本作以前と以後はちょっと違った作品と見るべきかと思う。(もちろん作品のクオリティーは変わらないが)
ジャケットだけ見るとモーホーな変なイメージも浮ぶが、蓋を開けてみれば１０ｃｃにほぼ通じるプログレッシヴなポップ・グループであり、曲はメロディがハッキリとしたひねりの効いたポップなものばかり。ドラマチックなオーケストラの使用やジョン・ジャン・ポール・クロッカーのエレクトリック・ヴァイオリンというサウンド面でも聞きどころもあり、文句の付けようのない傑作アルバムだと思う。

彼らの活躍したＬＰ時代には、ＲＩＴＺの「今、僕らは何か特別なものを持った。分かるかな?」と歌うスティーブ・ハーリーの声が印象深かった。この問いかけに対する答えはＴＩＭＥＬＥＳＳ　ＦＬＩＧＨＴにのＵＮＤＥＲＳＴＡＮＤにある。答えを知りたい方は聴いてください。

今回このＣＤを聞きなおしてみると、ＰＳＹＣＨＯＭＯＤＯやＭＲ．ＳＯＦＴなど、このアルバムを象徴する歌詞の方が印象深いし、ＴＵＭＢＬＩＮＧ　ＤＯＷＮまでの全体の流れがとてもスムーズだ。まるで底なし沼に引き込まれる感じだ。まさに「僕は気が狂いそう、僕は道を失いそう」なのだ。そう、どこまでも、どこまでも

とてもいい歌を歌うのにあまり有名じゃない。どこまでもどこまでも　などといってる場合ではない皆買いたまえ。
