マーヴェレッツやシュープリームスなどのソウルガールグループが活躍した60年代に花開いたロイヤレッツの1st。プロデュースとアレンジを手がけたのはテディ・ランダッツォ。ローラ・ニーロのアルバムタイトルにもなった「It's Gonna Take a Miracle」ほか華麗なストリングスで彩られた14の恋物語。


内容 (「CDジャーナル・レビュー」より)

60年代に活躍した黒人女性コーラス・グループのデビュー作で65年作品。タイトル曲はローラ・ニーロやデニース・ウィリアムスがカヴァーしており、ドリーミィなアレンジ、切なく始まって力強いサビに展開していく魅力的なメロディ、張りのあるヴォーカルは、いずれも名曲と呼ばれるにふさわしいものだ。ミシェル・ルグラン作の「Watch What Happens」が収められるなど、ポップかつエレガントな感覚に満ちたソウルで、ソフト・ロックに通じる趣きもある。シングル曲の「My Man」と「Take My Love」をボーナス収録。 (浅羽晃) --- 2001年03月号

そもそもレコードという割と大型なメディアと違って、ＣＤというメディアには、いわゆる「ジャケ買い」を誘うようなトータルデザインの素晴らしさを求めることはほとんど不可能だったと思いますが、この作品（もう一作のロイヤレッツのものも含め）は違います。
ケースを開くと現れる深紅のお皿、そして、しつこすぎるほど詳細に書き込まれた作品解説なども含めて、このアルバムを「コンパクトディスク」作品として世に出そうとした人の思い入れが、ひしひしと伝わってくるようです。
バカラックと双璧をなすほどの華麗な音作りの結晶の数々が、このアルバムを手にした人の耳と目を、同時に満足させてくれることは間違いありません。
