　有名な「青い影」は勿論いいけど、他にもいい曲があります。「青い影」みたいなキャッチーな曲が多いわけではないので、合わない人はいるだろうけど。全体に重厚で、バッハの平均律が出てくるなど、クラシックの影響が強く感じさせます。

　契約の関係で、国によって収録曲が若干違ったらしいけど、これは当時の作品をまとめて入れています。2ndシングルの「ホンバーグ」も名曲。

６７年発表の１ｓｔ。青い影があまりにも素晴しい曲のため、かえってグループの印象が弱くなってしまっている感がある。実際にこのグループは青い影を録音した時と１ｓｔアルバムを録音した時とではメンバーが違う。思うに青い影のヒットによってアルバムの製作の話が進んだのではないか？とも勘ぐってしまうのだ。実際にアルパムを聞いてみても１．の青い影と次からの曲の雰囲気の違いは若干の違和感を感じるほどだ。もっとも彼らの本質は２．以降の曲であり、１．ほどではないにしろかなり味わい深い曲が揃っている。７．などは代表曲の一つとして押したいくらいの渋い佳曲であり、個人的には大好きな一曲だ。２ｎｄ以降は装飾多過となる彼らだが、このアルバムではシンプルにその持ち味を発揮しており、実は曲そのもので勝負した充実し過ぎるほどの佳作である。青い影が目立ちすぎるために評価されないのが残念でならない。何にしてもゲイリーの白人とは思えない渋い喉は最高で、どことなく骨董品のような気品と重量感をこの作品に与えている。

「青い影」･････このﾈｰﾐﾝｸﾞの響きだけでも充分に魅力的で
実際に曲をﾗｼﾞｵで聴いてからというもの、輸入盤屋を血眼になって
探し歩いた記憶がある。当時このｼﾞｬｹのお皿は手に入らず、編集盤
のような2枚組をやっとの思いで見つけた日は本当に嬉しかった。
ﾀｲﾄﾙ曲は「LET IT BE」などと並んで3大美曲と仰る方もいるとか。
（但しあと1曲に諸説有り「好きにならずにいられない」説や
　「A Song For You」説、「Without You」説など紛糾気味）
ﾊﾞｯﾊの「主よ 人の望みの喜びよ」にｲﾝｽﾊﾟｲｱｰされてｹﾞｲﾘｰﾌﾞﾙｯｶｰが
作ったと言われているが、重厚なｵﾙｶﾞﾝで奏でられる旋律は当に涙物。
哲学的な詩と共にﾌﾞﾘﾃｨｯｼｭﾛｯｸの金字塔といえそう。
ｴﾘｯｸｸﾗﾌﾟﾄﾝが大昔にLIVEでｹﾞｲﾘｰﾌﾞﾙｯｶｰと「青い影」を演ったらしいが
一度で良いからそんな豪華なﾊﾞｰｼﾞｮﾝを聴いてみたいと今でも思う。
他にもﾎｰﾝﾊﾞｰｸﾞやｺﾝｸｨｽﾀﾄﾞｰﾙなどの秀曲も入っていて名盤の地位は
今も揺るがない。因みに本盤と「ｿﾙﾃｨﾄﾞｯｸﾞ」は
あのYumingの愛聴盤でもあったと聞いたことがある。
なるほど「翳りゆく部屋」なんて「青い影」を意識している気がする。
