「氷の世界」を基準に陽水をみてきた世間の評価が、「氷の世界」とは別の世界を追求してきたであろう陽水にやっと追いついたといえるアルバム。陽水の作品のなかでもひとつの到達点を形成している名盤といえる。言葉遊びとも思えるシュールな詩に乱舞するイメージの世界。個々の作品の質も高く、おなじみの「なぜか上海」をはじめとしてライブで取りあげられる曲も多いが、「今夜」といった名曲も見逃せない。

｢断絶｣｢センチメンタル｣「もどり道」「氷の世界」「二色の独楽」と陽水は黄金期を経て、陽水、星　勝、多賀　英則の黄金トリオを解消した。そして独自の世界をもっと深めるべく、船出をした。自身の音を追及したのだが低迷期に入っていった。が、である。純然たる陽水の音が完成したのである。それが「スニーカーダンサー」なのである。前作の「white」で覚醒を始めた陽水が、高中　正義とのコラボで前作に勝るとも劣らないアルバムを完成させた。タイトル曲は勿論、名曲の「なぜか上海」「海へきなさい」それに小室　等の曲「事件」も素晴らしい。曲の数だけ聴きどころのあるアルバムである。私の思う黄金期は前作の「white」から「スニーカーダンサー」「あやしい夜をまって」「ライオンとペリカン」までが本当の黄金期だと思っている。その後の陽水は円熟期を迎えるのである。ずいぶんと勝手な事を書いたが、自分はそう信じて疑わない。陽水の真骨頂を十分堪能できる「スニーカーダンサー」決して損のないアルバムである。

　このアルバム昔とにかくよく聞きました。好きな歌が多いです。
「なぜか上海」が一番有名で私も好きな曲の一つですが、私には「今夜」の独特な真夏の夜の雰囲気と青年のやる瀬ない思いと孤独を綴った幻想的な詩の世界が自分の気持ちにぴったり来て好きでした。この歌には、梶井基次郎の小説「檸檬」にあったデカダンスの匂いと一脈通じる世界があるように思えます。
「ジェニーMylove」も好きでした。高中正義のギターとの絶妙の調和がいいです。
　このアルバムでは全般に高中のギターが魅力の一つでもありました。もっとも高中のギターは「夢の中へ」ですでに採用されていますから、陽水の初期からの縁ですね。
「娘がねじれる時」の詩はやや雑な感じもありますが、彼のモラリストとしての本質を表わしていて、現代の未成年の性的退廃と家庭崩壊を予見した、すごいものだと今でも感心させられます。
「勝者としてのペガサス」は導入の虚無的で、不安感とどこか諦めのような何ともいえない覚めた心象風景の絶妙な感じが好きで、他の曲にはないユニークな歌です。
　これほどの豊饒な魅力を備えながらも、あの頃の陽水の売れ行きはイマイチでした。ファンとしてそれが悔しかったのも今では遠い思い出です。当時のニューミュージック界の人たちは概ね勢いが下降気味ですが、陽水は還暦を目前にして大御所としての地位を不動にしつつあります。この人は才能においても運勢においてもどこか神がかり的だと思えてなりません。
　陽水31歳の創作力の充実していた時期の所産です。
