ランシド、NOFXと並ぶエピタフの代表バンド、約2年ぶりの通算6作目。パンク・ファンのみならず、サーファーにも絶大な支持を受けている彼らだけに、その確固たるオリジナリティは健在だ。


内容 (「CDジャーナル・レビュー」より)

ジャケットやタイトルからもわかるように、政治的なメッセージの強いアルバムだ。歌詞カードがないので詳しいことはわからないが、その鉾先はウソと一部の人間の欲望で塗り固められたアメリカの“いま”に向けられているようだ。それだからというわけでもないのだろうが、サウンドもキリリと辛口な仕上がりになっている。フレッチャー(g)によれば“よりパワフルでヘヴィな作品にしたかった”とのことだが。ペニーワイズというとどうしても、メロディアスで疾走感のある、ノリがすべてなハードコア・バンドと見られがち。だが、このアルバム(たとえ英語がわからなかったとしても)に封じ込められた真摯な態度に触れたならば、前述のイメージが必ずしもこのバンドのすべてを言い尽くしてはいないことに気づかされるはず。サウンドとしてのハードコアと、アティテュードとしてのハードコアがいいテンションで結実したアルバムだと思う。素晴らしい。 (兒玉常利) --- 2001年07月号

今回はどうだろうと、手にとり、耳にして「やっぱりＰ．Ｗサウンドだ」と、うなずいてしまう一作。聞きなれたサウンドと、メロディー展開だが、決して飽きることは無い。常にリスナーをハイ・テンションにしてくれるペニー・ワイズならではの曲作りに、改めてほっとしてしまう。

ペニーワイズという名を聞いてあなたはどんな想像をしますか？
エピタフのバンドだから、ただのメロコアだと思うかもしれません。
しかし、実際はガッチガッチの高速パンクなのです。
さすがベテランだけあって、曲構成のすばらしさ、バンドの一体感、
駆け抜けるような曲のスピード感はハンパなものじゃありません。
一度お聞きあれ･･･。
