前作と並ぶ、メタルの全盛期に発表された名盤。前作は、アメリカ受けするライトな曲がいくつかあったが、この作品では、原点であるところの「運命の翼」で聴ける英国的、または、故郷バーミンガムの空気を打ち出したような、

独自の威圧感がある。頭2曲は強烈。1はスピード、2は英国の威厳を発散し、ソロが鉄壁。3、4も同系統のＪＰならではの曲。原点とは言っても、イントロの響きなど革新的で時代を感じさせない。5、6は独特のサビをもつ好曲。後半はバラードなどがあって雰囲気を変える。ボーナス未発表曲はかなりいい、美しい曲。

すごくマニアックなこと書かせてもらいます。このリマスター盤は右チャンネルと左チャンネルの音が逆になってる！ＫＫダウニングのギターソロが右スピーカーから聞こえて来るというのはファンにとっては結構違和感があるので、ソニーさんこれから生産する分はちゃんと直しておいてね。アルバムはもちろん素晴らしいですよ。最後のDefenders Of The Faithはいらん曲だとずっと思ってましたが、ボーナストラックを聴き、ライブバージョンだと結構かっこいいことが分かって嬉しい発見でした。

いわずと知れた大傑作、
「Scream For Vengence（復讐の叫び）」で
アメリカ、そして世界を制圧した彼らの
余裕に満ちた凱旋の雄叫び。
勢いだけではなく、まさに充実した曲の並び。
1の「ホイール・バーニング」から
4の「死の番人」までの曲の並びは
メロディーから勢い共に
針の穴も通らない完璧な並びだ。
「死の番人」の哀愁を漂わせながら

駆け抜けていく様はまさに感涙もの。
ロブのシャウト・ボーカルも、
そして楽曲の一つ一つが激しさだけではなく、
自己陶酔すら感じるほどに美しく
メタルの美学が存分に詰まった大傑作！
これはまさに教科書だ！
メタルは永遠なり！
