イギリスが生んだプログレバンド、カーヴド・エアの元ヴァイオリニスト、ダリル・ウェイがリーダーになって結成された「ダリル・ウェイ＆ウルフ」のデビューアルバムです。1973年の作品。

カーヴド・エアという枠の中では自分が本当にやりたい音楽ができなかったダリル・ウェイはバンド名に自分の名前を冠しているだけに、まさに伸び伸びとしたはつらつとした演奏を繰り広げています。メンバーにはギターにジャズ畑でセッション活動をしていたジョン・エサーリッジ、ベースにはカナダ出身のデク・メッセカー、ドラムにクラシックの素養があるイアン・モズレー。プロデューサーには元クリムゾンのイアン・マクドナルドを迎え入れているだけあって全体的にはプログレ色が強い曲が多いのですが、意識的にジャズ畑のメンバーが加わることによって、いまや懐かしいジャズロックの様相を呈しています。

確かに今の視点で聴いてみると流石に時代を感じさせてしまいますし、お世辞にも上手いとは言いがたいボーカルも若干トホホ感を禁じ得ませんが、70年代初頭のプログレ、ジャズロックシーンを語るうえで重要な意味をもつ作品です。

　カーヴド・エアを脱退したヴァイオリニスト、ダリル・ウェイが結成したグループ、ウルフのセカンド。
　全作でのヴォーカルの弱さはメンバーたちもよく理解していたようで、本作では１曲のみに減らされている。
　全体的にエサリッジのギターが前面に出てきている分、心なしか、ソフト・マシーン寄りのサウンドになってきている気がする。
　インスト中心の分、全作よりは評価が高いが、しかし、カーヴド・エアの域には程遠い。全体的な温さというか…
「スロー・ラグ」は名曲だが、他は印象が薄い曲が多い。

　ボーナス･トラックとして、シングル／EP曲（ヴァージョン）が３曲。
　いつも書いていることだが、ジャケットは厚紙でしっかり造って欲しいものだ。
