60年代、ＭＴＶなんて無いのでビートルズブームと言っても実際にビートルズがテレビに出るわけでもなく、邦人アーチストのカバーがお茶の間を賑わせていたのですね。当時小学生だった私も後年ビートルズの曲をほとんど知っていたのはヒットパレードで見たカバーのおかげでした。ブルーコメッツのガールなんて泣かせます。今になって聴くと英語より無理矢理な邦訳の方が楽しめますね。ロカビリー→ＧＳ→ニューロック→フォークという歌謡シーンの移り変わりもわかる好盤。

なんといっても、おもしろい。
日本におけるビートルズ受容の歴史をふりかえるには最適。
是非、パート２をつくってもらいたいと希望してます。
同じ１曲ばかりをあつめて１枚のＣＤにするのもおもしろいかも。
一見すると、英語歌唱のほうが「本格派」のようでかっこいいけれど、資料的価値、異文化受容、なによりもチャレンジ精神から判断すれば、日本語歌詞のほうが、おもしろいし、評価したくなるなぁ。

GS&60年代に活躍した日本人ミュージシャンによる、ビートルズのカバーコンピレーション、2001年5月発売。レーベルの壁を越えて1枚にまとまったこと自体にまず感謝。和製ポップスといわれていたプレGSの頃の曲は少々無理がある日本語訳の歌詞が笑えて楽しいのですが、GS全盛の頃になってくると、ふつうの英語カバーになって物足りなくなってしまうのが少し残念。尾藤イサオはこの頃からすでにネチっこくて（笑）私にはトゥーマッチ。
