このビデオを見て一番楽しめるのは、恐竜の発生から絶滅までの時代を海、空、陸を舞台として、さまざまな恐竜が次々と登場し、その動きが生き生きとしていることである。見ているだけで楽しい出来になっている。恐竜の骨格はかなり分かっているが、皮膚の色とか構造は化石に残っていないため想像するしかない。本編では恐竜の種類によりさまざまな皮膚の色と模様が見られる。ＣＧを駆使してはいるが、ＣＧだけではどうしても細部のニュアンスが出てこないところを、手間を掛けて模型を作り、それを人間が動かしながら補っている製作過程を付属のＤＶＤで見ることが出来る。恐竜に関心のある人にはお薦めの一品。

設定が、ジュラッシクパークのようなＳＦ的なものでなく、あくまでもドキュメンタリータッチで進行しており、１８０分という長時間にもかかわらず飽きさせないところが素晴らしい！私の子ども（小学３年の双子）などは１週間で５回ぐらい観ています。江守さんの解説は、ドラマチックな言い回しではありますが、内容的にしっかりと科学的な味付けが盛り込まれているし何といっても恐竜をはじめとする古生物たちの映像が素晴らしい。皮膚の色は別として恐竜の栄枯盛衰が誰にでも楽しみながら学習できる作品です。家族で団らんとしてみるのにもうってつけですね。

タイトル通り、子供の頃から恐竜が好きだった人には必見の作品です。
じつは、最新の科学的な検証に基づいて作成されているそうですが、実際には古生物学や考古学の専門家にはまた違った批判的な意見もあることでしょう。でも、この検証が万が一誤りであったとしても、この作品のCG映像はなんら批判の対象にはならないでしょう。。

私個人の感想では、ジュラシックパークを含むどの恐竜映画よりもおもしろいです。

CG映像の恐竜はどれも生き生きしています。古生物時代にタイムスリップして、映像におさめて持って帰ってきたみたいです。
それに、肉食恐竜の捕食シーンなども適度におさめられていて、結構スリリングであったりもします。

いろいろ書きましたが、難しいことはいっさいなし！もうただ純粋におもしろいです。ひとつあっても損はしないと思いますよ！
