まるで映画のサントラのようである。犬神凶子演じる蛇神姫が辿って行く禍々しくも美しき世界。
「蛇神姫」「逆流」「苦界浄土」「裏路地哀歌」「鬼畜」「血みどろ菩薩」「寂滅」「でもワザとじゃない」「ガム」「背徳の扉」「カナリヤ」

歌詞の過激さとは裏腹にとても美しい旋律を奏でる曲や、鬼気迫る曲、飛び跳ねたくなるような曲などバラエティに富んでいる。
ジャケットに戸惑う人もいるかもしれないが、犬神サーカス団ほど聴いてみないとわからないバンドはない。きっと、何故今まで聴かなかったのか後悔することだろう。私が正にそれであった。

この美しく流れて行く物語を全ての人に聴いてもらいたい。

前作「地獄の子守唄」同様、「墓場」とか「あの世」とかそんな言葉が世界一似合うロック。全体的に、前作よりもハードロック色が強まり音が骨太になった印象。犬神サーカス団のアルバムの中で怨念・執念・憤怒といった感情が最も強い作品かもしれない。ボルテージがどんどん上がってすさまじい半狂乱ぶりを見せる際に極限を超えて声がヒステリックに裏返ったり音程が外れたりする部分からにじみ出る痛々しさと言ったらもう！圧倒されます。
「寂滅」は本当にすごい。竹薮から幽霊が出てきそうな印象を与えるという点でこの曲を超えられる曲はないと思うし、日本の音楽が日本的であることの核の部分にすごく近いものを感じさせる日本独特の怖さを持ったメロディーである。「カナリヤ」は泣ける名曲、かすれ気味に絞り出される歌声があまりに痛々しくて心をかき乱される。叫び・セリフ・歌を組み合わせ演劇的に展開する「父親憎悪」は死ぬほどドラマチック！

~　今はエンターテイメント色を強く打ち出し、メジャーで活躍する犬神サーカス団だが、このアルバムと「地獄の子守歌」路線を求めているファンも多いのではないだろうか。初期犬神のおどろおどろしさが存分に味わえる。基本的には変わらない犬神凶子のVocalも暗く、迫力があるように聞こえるから不思議だ。

　ベストアルバムには収録されていないが、ライブでは演奏される「鬼畜」は新しいファンにもぜひ聞いてもらいたい。ロックンロール！~
