Dir en greyの実質一番最初のシングルです♪

ゴシックな手法の強みを活かしたサウンドに、
当時からビジュアル系の音楽作りを強く意識していたことを伺わせる興味深い楽曲です。

ｃ/ｗ「Unknown…Despair･･･a Lost」も負けず劣らずの作品。

歌唱方法も独特でメロディアスな曲調に過去のDir、
というよりももうひとつのDirの方向性すら見出せるかなりの実力作です。

Dirファンの方にはもちろん、
インディーズ系の音源が好き、という方にも是非お勧めしたいCDです♪

昔、最初にこのJEALOUSを聴いて、全部聴き終えた時はあまりに良い曲なので、感動のあまり声もでないくらいと言うのは大袈裟ですが、かなり関心したのは事実です。まず、歌詞が良いですね、誰かが言っていたのですが、男性が書いたとは思えない、綺麗で、女性の書くような美しい歌詞です。だけど、ちょっぴり毒の効いた部分もあるのが良い味を出していると思います。あと、曲調も良いですね。友達とカラオケに言ったときには彼らの曲を歌うのですが、歌詞や、曲があまりに過激なものも多い為に、友達にはとても嫌がられる曲が多数なのですが(どれも良い曲だと思うのですがね)、このJEALOUSはとても良いと言ってくれましたね。まぁ、その友人も良いと言ったからって、みんなが良いと言ってくれるかは分かりませんが、少なくとも、私はこの曲が悪いと言う人は少ないのでは？と思います。これも私の勝手な見解ですが、どうもすみません。
あと、カップリングの「Unknown…Despair･･･a Lost」も良いです。これこそDir en grey！というような激しい曲です。こちらの方は毒がかなり多めです！
あと、京さんの歌唱力と楽器隊の皆さんの演奏技術の方は、まあ、初期の初期の方ですから、荒く、上手いとは言えませんが、そんなのを気にしなくなるくらい作品はクオリティーの高いものだと私は思います。

個人的には演奏技術の未熟さを思わされなかった。インディーズ時代をご存知でなかった方の耳にもさほどの差異を感じさせないだろう。詩もボーカルも落ちることなく、むしろこの時だからこその魅力を帯びているような気さえした。

穏やかなスローテンポから激しさへと一転し、そのまま切ないメロディへと流れ込むあたりは充分に彼ららしい。研ぎ澄まされた音楽性が見られたのにも、意外と言っては失礼だが驚いた。カップリング曲も衝動的な部分と過ぎないバランスが絶妙で、彼らの多様性を見せつけられるような一曲になっている。

通常のシングルよりもやや割高になるが、その価値は間違いなくある。
