空気公団の曲は「レモンを買おう」しか聴いた事がなく、その曲が良かったのでレビューも参考にして、何となくこのアルバムを買った。最初に全部聴いた時は「期待外れだったな・・・」と退屈で眠くなったり。「折角買ったんだからもう一回聴くか」と思い、数日後に聴いた。やっぱり眠くなって寝てしまった。自分の中でイマイチだと思っていたけど、ふとした時にメロディが頭の中で回り始める。またCDを聴き直すと、自分の中で好きな曲はこれだとわかってくる。そうしている内に、何ともないと思っていたこのアルバムの良さをじわじわと感じ始める。聴く度に「あぁ、良いな」という想いが強くなり、どこか懐かしさがある。そしてまた聴きたくなる。また何年か経って空気公団の曲を聴いた時、今この時の思い出がはっきりと浮かび上がる事でしょう。

ありふれた風景や感情を素直に、なんのてらいもなく作り上げた一枚のアルバムに素直に感情移入できた。絵画的な表現とでもいうべき音楽に、軽く聞いているうちはふーん、で流してしまいそうだが、聞き入ることによって時間が止まったような錯覚に陥られる。確かに存在を確かめられるふわふわ感・・・なんとも表現が難しい。ただ、私はこう思う。空気のような当たり前を感じることができる、と。

2004年4月での活動休止を発表した空気公団。
プラスとマイナス、そしてそのどちらにも訳し切れないあいまいな感情。
それらをやさしくも儚い空気で包み込む空気公団の音楽は、デビュー作にして完成の域にある。
すべての景色の後ろに自分が背景化されているような感覚。
極限的な虚無感から這い上がり、浮かんで地上を見ているような気分。

そういった詞やサウンドの要素は、上質なメロディーラインと相反し、曲自体を地上のポップやエクスペリメンタルといった群れからも遊離させる。
そこには、空気公団独特の「どうしようもなく何気無い世界」が音楽化されている。
空気公団の音楽を知る端緒としても是非聴いてみてもらいたいアルバムです。
