マリスの最高傑作とは言えないが、個人的にはマリスで一番気に入っている、それどころか私が今まで手にしたCDの中で最も気に入っているCDとすら言える作品。
シンセギターを多用し、２本のギターが２台のチェンバロのようなニュアンスで単音の美しい旋律を重ね、ハモる。クラシック特にバロック音楽・教会音楽のような旋律をなぞる激しくも壮麗なロックに乗せて歌われるのは狂った愛の世界。死とわかちがたく結びついた恍惚の愛。倒錯的・猟奇的・歪んだ異形の愛だからこそ、逆説的にどこまでも美しい。
ツインギターが絡み合いながらクラシカルな旋律を弾くというのはヘヴィメタルの常套手段であるが、マリスのギターはもっと線が細くハードロックしすぎない。そこにはヘヴィメタルでは味わえない独特の優雅さ・気品がある。
「記憶と空」は好きで好きでたまらない曲です。教会のオルガンのような暗く厳かな響きと衝動的で激しい狂気をぶちまけるドロドロ耽美なロック。感情むき出しだが恍惚に酔いしれるような歌い回しのボーカル。過剰すぎた、絶望的な、倒錯した愛、狂気、死、トラウマ、文学的・耽美的な詩世界が、悲劇的なメロディー・演劇的な曲展開によってあまりに激しく迫ってくる。君との再会の時、殺したいと思うだろうか抱きたいと思うだろうか。狂おしい恐怖感と陶酔感に息が止まってしまいそう。
「seraph」は明るく美しいメロディーで、さあ殺しておくれ…って、初めて聞いた時の衝撃が忘れられない。穏やかで美しい午後…といったイメージの曲調なのがかえって病的で狂っている。「バロック」はクラシカルに絡みまくるツインギターに乗せ、あなたを殺して永遠に私のものに…という狂気の愛を悲劇的に、高らかに歌い上げる。間奏で「エリーゼのために」の旋律をなぞってハモるツインギターがカッコよすぎる。しびれます。

Tetsuの声がいいです。痛いです。胸に刺さります。インディーズの頃なんで音・演奏ともによろしくないですが…。
この頃がメジャーであればもっと時間をかけてきれいに録れたんじゃないかなと。
カグト在籍時は興味ないんで聴いてないですけど。というか聴いたことはあるのですが胸に響きません。なので曲の途中で全て再生を停止。
むしろソロのほうがガクトは聴けるんではないでしょうか？
聴いた分だけ味が出るボーカル。良いアルバムですね。

１曲、１曲の完成度がすばらしいと思います。何度聞いても全然あきませんし個人的には非常に気に入っているアルバムです。ブックレットも素敵だと思います。
