未発表音源満載のボックスセット以外にさらに、こういうレア物が出るなんて、さすがビーチ・ボーイズですねえ。それにたがわず、魅力溢れる構成のマスト盤です。
Disc１（１９６０~１９６５時のトラック）

Disc２（１９６６~１９７２）つまり『ペット・サウンズ』を境にして構成されている。『ペット・サウンズ』は別にセットがあるので細心に除かれたのだろう。レア・トラックにしても必ずしも年代順には入っていない。しかし、そんなことは気にならないほどの清廉さがある。デビューを期すことになる｢サーフィン｣以前に録音されたオープン・リール・テープの｢ハッピィ・バースディ・フォー・フレッシュメン｣にはブライアンの才能(よく言われすぎていることだが）の初期に遡れるし、アカペラの｢キス・ミー・ベイビー｣、｢キャント・ウェイト・トゥー・ロング｣、ブライアンも打ちのめされたというデニスの未発表傑作｢ア・タイム・トゥ・リブ・イン・ドリームス｣、｢アド・サム・ミュージック・トゥ・ユア・ディ｣、｢フォー・エヴァー｣は、極上の美しさです。メンバーの語り、ヴァージョン違い、デモ・テープなどなど飽きることなく聞けます。初期のビーチ・ボーイズを振り返り、カールの言葉で終わる、この心憎い構成は，その後のビーチ・ボーイズを知っている方なら様々な余韻を呼び起こすことでしょう。両ディスク共に終了後シークレット・トラックが入っています。聞き逃さないように。
