1→ビーチ・ボーイズ初の全米ナンバー1ヒット。説明不用の超名曲。2→映画「アメリカン・グラフィティ」でおなじみ。木琴の音色がたまらない。3→ミスティックスのカバー。ミスティックスより数百倍良い。4→ホンダのミニバイクのことを歌った日本人必聴の曲。ラジオではかかりづらいのでCDで聴こう。5→ブライアンの裏声が美しい曲。6→カールのギターをフィーチャーしたインスト曲。7→このアルバムの白眉。ベースとドラムのイントロはかっこいいのに歌詞はしょぼい(笑)。間奏で咳が聴こえるのも含め、あらゆる意味でビーチ・ボーイズらしい一曲だ。8→ロックンロール初期のスターを「覚えているかい」と歌う。9→「サーファー・ガール」を発展させた素晴らしいバラード。10→アップテンポの曲。11→曲ではない。おしゃべり。12→ミドルテンポの曲。13→のちに「マーセラ」に発展する未発表曲。14→バックコーラスが違う。15→歌詞もメロディーも全く違う。 総括→これだけ名曲が詰まっているのだから、名盤に決まっている。即買いだね・・・。

楽しさや切なさ、喜びや寂しさといったビーチボーイズのエンドレスサマーがここにある！

ペット・サウンズのような芸術的な音楽もビーチボーイズの一面ではあり、素晴らしいが、ここにあるメロディを聴くと、やはりこれぞビーチボーイズと叫びたい。

特にアイ・ゲット・アラウンドでマイクのヴォーカルが与えるポップな印象と疾走するコーラスに乗って飛び出すブライアンのファルセットの狂おしいまでの切なさの対比の前には、感情を言葉にできない。

マイクの若々しい歌声、弾むようなメロディー、快活なアレンジ、聴いているだけで心から楽しくなってくる。しかし、やがて何かもの悲しい気分になってくるのはなぜだろう。これは実は、夏の終わりに感じる寂しさ、去り行く青春の記憶を表現した音楽なんだろう。いつまでも、こんな作品を作り続けてほしかったんだけど・・・。
