本映画も大変すばらしい（他の人のレビューを参考のこと）のですが、
他の人に上手く語られてしまって、言うことがありません。
しかし、映像特典はすばらしいです。撮影日記では、監督・イラストレーターの和田誠さんの撮影日記を細かく紹介していますし、
撮影風景もスナップ的に取っています（その中には、故、阿佐田哲也氏もいます）。

また、当時のパンフレットの紹介もあり、その中の活字が読め、映画の雰囲気を盛りたてます。
DVD「麻雀放浪記」を見た後、映像特典も必ずごらんになることをおすすめします。

焼け跡も痛々しい敗戦直後の東京を舞台に、主人公坊や哲が博打の世界を通して成長していく様を描いた好作品。この作品の魅力は阿佐田哲也の原作の良さは言うまでもないが、出演してる役者達の素晴らしさに尽きる。特に出目徳役の高品格の演技は最高である。モノクロの日本映画ということでウェットで人情的なものを期待すると痛い目に遭うので注意が必要。何しろこの映画に登場する人物は「いい人」がいないのだから。ただ騙しても裏切ってもそれが当たり前の世界で本人達には罪悪感が無くカラッとしているので何だか憎めない。「死んだ奴は負けだ」というドサ健の言う通り、自殺者が３万人を越える今だからこそ見るべき、日本人がギラギラしていた時代の生の賛歌。

素晴らしい作品。
ただただ、そういわざるを得ません。

登場人物は、現代の日本においては、全人格を否定されてもおかしくない人ばかり。
女衒に博打打、登場人物は全てそう。

しかし、戦後の日本には確実に存在したであろう、この人々を、
真摯に描いたこの作品は、華美な演出もなく淡々と人間模様と博打（麻雀）を交互に見せることによって、
博打ですら人生の一部であるかのように、思い入れ深く描いています。

高品格さんの演技もですが、卓を囲む4人のなんともいえない雰囲気。
最初は積むことすらままならなかった哲が、最後の勝負では出目徳さえも欺いてしまう。

そしていまや語り草の「九連宝燈」。

最後の最後まで博打に生きた人々を描いた傑作。
決して誰にでも勧められる作品ではないが、見る人を選ぶ作品かもしれません。
それでも素晴らしい映画であることに変わりはない。
