ヴォーカル兼コンポーザーの河井英里を中心とするユニットのデビュー作。サイモン&ガーファンクルのカヴァーなども収録。透明感のある澄んだ歌声に、ヨーロッパ的なサウンドが心地よい。

今やすっかり音楽のいちジャンルとして定着した感のある“癒し系”という言葉。その語感から受ける印象はそれこそ千差万別だと思うのだが、そんな概念が、肝心の音楽をないがしろに一人歩きしている昨今の状況は、非常に危険であると個人的には思う。ここに紹介するエリは、そうした安易なジャンル分けでは収まりきれない才能を感じさせる音楽性を持ったユニット。元安全地帯の武沢豊との共同作業によるサウンドは、打ち込みをベースにしながらも歌と言葉の響きにどこまでもこだわっている。偏見なしに聴いてほしい。 (黒田隆憲) --- 2001年05月号

隠れた名アルバムの一枚にまた出会えたという感じです。

サンクチュアリー、シャリオンは何処の国の言葉でもない造語だそうです。そのため単語の音や文法にとらわれず、河井英里さんの澄んだ歌声が１つの楽器のようにメロディーに融合し、心にしみる幻想的な曲に仕上がっている。心のメンテナンスに最適な一枚である。

オフィシャルＨＰで試聴できるので一度聞いてみることをお勧めする。心の琴線に触れるものがあれば買って間違いなし。
曲だけでなくパッケージのデザインもコバルトブルーのガラス工芸のようで美しくアルバムのイメージにあっている。

欠点は曲数が少ないこと、もっと聞いていいたいと思わせるもので、次のアルバムが待ち遠しい。

　透明感のある歌声が耳に心地よく響きます。
「シャ・リオン」しか知らない人も、河井英里をよく
知らない人でもゆったりとした気分にひたれる曲だと思いマス。

ここに収録されているのは、異国或いは異世界に旅しているような気にさせてくれる音楽です。
幻想的な歌声、呪文めいた歌詞、月のまにまに流れるようなメロディ。
惜しむらくは曲数が少なく、心地よい時間があっという間に終わってしまうこと。
けれど、それもまた、一夜の夢のようでいいのかもしれません。
自分だけの秘密にしておきたいけれど、お勧めします。
