タイトルだけだとピンク映画のようですが、中身はアニメの「ルパン三世」にも似た、軽快なタッチのサスペンス。
音楽は平岡精二で、タイトルバックからビブラフォンをフューチャーしたジャズが流れて、これがまた、「ルパン三世'80」を連想させるんですね。
低予算を逆手にとって、裏道を延々とロケ撮影して迷宮感覚を生み出してみせる、監督のセンスを見るべき作品です。

　キャロル･リードに範をとったような陰影の濃い画面と、当時は
まだ残っていた堀端や水路を活用し迷宮都市を演出する。

　今となってはいくら金を積んでも不可能な昭和30年代の銀座の街
が、パリやロンドンに比する都市の魅力を醸し出している。東京オ
リンピックによって大きな変貌を遂げる前の銀座界隈。今、ここで
しか撮れなかったショットの数々は、現代において歴史的な価値を
持つことになった。

　加えて、当時の東京には夜があったことも本作の出来に大きく寄
与している。終電が過ぎた頃、盛り場は眠りに着いていた。その事
実が物語の展開に大きく作用する。

　ヴィヴラフォンを主体としたジャズが全編を覆う、都会派の見事
なクライム･サスペンス。和製フィルム・ノワールの傑作である。

石井輝男の演出は結構出来不出来が激しい気がするが、この一本は白黒映画の強めコントラストが、無機質な都会の片隅に蠢く孤独な人間たちの疑心と裏切り、そして下卑た欲望に満ちた日々を、高級コールガール派遣秘密組織と女スリ、そして恋人を殺されその罪を着せられたサラリーマを交錯させながら巧みに見せて秀逸。特に須藤登のキャメラによる陰影の濃い夜間撮影と石井本人による脚本が、ハリウッドB級ノワールとヌーベルバーグの接点あたりを目指すと思われる彼独特の立ち居地を巧く表現することに成功している。
会社の重要書類を盗まれた挙句スリの汚名を着せられたたことで突然左遷を言い渡され、さらにその夜フィアンセを殺害されたことで、延々と路頭に迷いながらもその不条理の理由を探し求めるサラリーマンを「吸血鬼ゴケミドロ」の吉田輝雄が、そしてその原因となった女スリには後に東映お色気映画で名脇役ぶりを見せる三原葉子のルノワール的女性像が、それぞれ味わい深い独特の雰囲気を醸してこの映画を更に独特のものにし、平岡精二のジャズがその彩りよくその雰囲気を仕上げる。
