最近、A BEST２が発売され、話題になっているが、やっぱり浜崎あゆみのベストアルバムと言えば、このA BESTだと思う。A BEST ２は、アルバム曲も結構収録されていて、なんだか無理やり２枚に分けて発売している感が否めない。が、このA BESTは、「Who...」・「A Song for ××」以外は全てシングル曲で構成されており、まさしくBESTという選曲である。また、１stシングルから3ｓｔシングルまでのシングル、アルバムからシングルカットされたシングルは一切収録されていない。これは正解だったと思う。アルバムを買う楽しみが増えるからだ。約450万枚を売り上げた名盤。誰にでもお勧めできる。特に気に入っている曲は、「Trauma」・「Boy＆Girls」・「SEASONS」など。というよりこのアルバムに収録されている曲の全てがお気に入りである。捨て曲0。最後まで気持ちよく聞ける。

このベストの内容はとても良いと思います。1曲目から16曲目まで、本当に抜けたところがない。
あと、これは選曲は浜崎あゆみ自身が行っていますが、発売の決定はレコード会社によるもので本人の意向ではありません。このためか、この頃は歌手を辞めたいと思っていたらしく、前後にリリースされたシングルも暗い曲になっています。
この時と今の浜崎あゆみが同じ心境であれば、ベストはすごく憧れているものであり彼女にとってはとても大きいものだそうなので、今後も(本人の意向では)ベストがリリースされることはないと思います。ただこの作品があったおかげで彼女のポジションは確実なものとなったのではないかと思うので、若干複雑ではありますが。

初めて買った浜崎あゆみのCDがこれでした。
2001年の紅白で聴いた「Dearest」が気に入りまして、彼女の他の曲も聴いてみようと思い、購入しました。
一曲目の「A Song for ××」でやられました。一気に心を鷲掴みにされました。
激しい曲調、悲しい歌詞。初めて聴いてこんなに印象に残った曲はありません。
他の曲も個性のある曲揃い・・・。大満足の一枚です。


ちなみに、一曲目の「A Song for ××」など数曲は、このアルバム制作に際して歌い直したものが収録されています。
「A Song 〜」は特に、オリジナル版よりも感情的に歌い上げているような印象を受けました。
第一印象のせいもあってか、私はこちらのバージョンのほうが好きです。
