このアルバムは、もうヤケクソというか、凄まじいです。
アマゾンの奥地の原住民のセッションとかどうでも良くなるぐらいに、
全体のテンションが高く、濃いです。
バンドとして一番脂が乗っていたころでしょうね。
非常にヘヴィで怒っているアルバムですが、それでも嫌味にならないのは、
やはりブラジル人の持っている空気さなのでしょうか。
それまでSepulturaの音楽にはあまり馴染めませんでしたが、
このアルバムでは完全にヤラれました。
もう、英米のバンドとはルーツが違うんだな、と良くわかりました。

聴け！この怒涛のブラジリアンメタルを！全作まではギリギリスラッシーなギターを聞かせてくれたが今作からは打って変わってモダンヘヴィネス的なスピードよりもへヴィネスに重点を置く作品へと変貌。ヘヴィネスといった部分では更に磨きがかかっている。こんなにもブラジル音楽をカッコよく聞かせるなんてこのバンドは凄すぎる。最近流行りのILL NINOなどトライバル系のメタルが出てきたが元祖の持つ迫力は決して時代と共に廃れてしまう物ではない･･･　KORNのジョナサンもゲストで参加しているだけに聴き応えは十分だ。　でも僕はこの後はヴォーカルのソロであるソウルフライに移ってしまった為、ROOTS後のセパルトゥラは分からない。　でもROOTSはヘヴィー過ぎるかも･･･

トライバル・メタルの元祖、SEPULTURAの6stアルバムです。
このアルバムと出会ったのは僕が約15才の時でSEPULTURAに就いて未熟でしたが、1曲目の“Roots Bloody Roots”を聞いた時は衝撃を受けました。
また、最初は部族的演奏が流れる2曲目の“Attitude”も聞いた時は驚きました。これは、トライバル・メタルの必聴的アルバムだと思います。
また、SEPULTURAのアルバムの中では必聴アルバムです。
でも、悲しい事に今このアルバムは製造中止となってます(僕の思い違いでしたら、すみません)。
どうして、こんな良質なアルバムを…?
まだ、聞いてない人いるかもしれないのに…。
まあ、色んな事情があったんでしょうね…。
これ以上文句は言いませんが………。
さておき、評価は星5個じゃ足りません。星55個ぐらいあげたいぐらいです。
