バンド活動15年目にしてバンド名を変えての新たなスタートを切った『GRAND ILLUSION』としての1stアルバム。
ジャケの内側の写真を見て「え！？」と思うかもしれませんが、こんなオジサマ達の音楽がこんなにも爽やかでポップなのには正直驚きました！
某雑誌でも絶賛されていて気になったので、試聴してから即購入しました（笑）
現在までに前身バンドである『PROMOTION』時代の曲を再編集した形のアルバムを除いて3枚のアルバムを出していますが、インパクトと曲の仕上がりぐあいはこのアルバムが一番気に入っています♪
新人バンド（と言っていいかはわかりませんが…）にも関わらず、非常にキャリアもあり、安心して聴く事が出来ます。

曲としては、本人たちも言っている通り、AOR路線まっしぐらな感じで、JOURNEY,TOTO,HUGO,SURVIVORなんかと似通った感じですね。
ただ、『北欧系』独特の透明感のあるメロディ、曲構成でとても楽しめました。
AORが好きな方なら迷わず聴いていただきたい一枚です☆

グランドイルージョンとくれば＝すなわち『スティックス』なわけで、ジャケットでザインを見れば＝すなわち『ニックマグナス』なわけで、
グランドイルージョン＝『大いなる錯覚』なわけです。

まずはこのバンドは『ウエストコースト風なＡＯＲ、ハードポップバンド』であることに注意していただきたい。ヘビーメタルではまったくない。日本のヘビーメタル雑誌にのっているからと鵜呑みにしてはいけない。

北欧特有の＝叙情性＋ウエストコースト特有の『さわやかさ』が絶妙にブレンドされている音楽性を有する。

ボーカルは＝すなわちトニーハーネル、スティーブペリーを想起させるものである。サウンド的にはトト、ジャーニー、ボストン、スティックスのエッセンスに北欧テイストを加味させたものだ!。

ビッグネームが参加しているわけではなく、ボブロックがプロデュースしているわけでもない。だがこのアルバムは傑作だ。

バーニーマースデンが『アラスカ』でなし得なかったことをこのバンドはかなりの高いレベルで実現できている。
コーラスワークと楽曲の良さがすばらしい。
１０点中１０点　
久々に聴くに値するハードポップバンドの出現だ。

『産業ロック』というまぬけな音楽用語をふりまわすのはやめていただきたいものだ。このバンドはそんなばかげた、意味のない言葉は軽く越えているのだから。今後大いに期待できるバンドである。
ジャーニーファン／ＡＯＲ／ウエストコーストロックファンにおすすめだ。

キラーチューンレベルの曲が3曲程度。ありきたりの曲展開の曲がほとんど。メロディアスだがメロディが心に残らない感じ。
