エルネスト・アンセルメ指揮スイス・ロマンド管弦楽団の演奏する、フランス系の交響曲の二つの壮大な山を聴くことができる。……1961年録音のサン＝サーンスの交響曲第3番は永らくこの曲の代表的録音とされてきたが、初期の頃のCDではこのマスターテープの状態をきちんと再現できていなかったように思う。しかし現況ではCDとしてはまずまずか。ただ、改めてクリアになった音を聴くにつけ、演奏の点では各楽章とも、オルガンの入っていない前半部分が、音程やアンサンブルに問題があるようだ。それぞれ後半のオルガンが加わる部分になると、ぐっと出来が良くなる。……1962年録音のフランク「交響曲ニ短調」では、音程もアンサンブルも問題がなく、録音も素晴らしい。演奏は静謐で瞑想的な部分と、悪魔的に騒がしい部分とそれぞれ説得力がある。

アンセルメの残した録音の中でも代表的な１枚。スイス・ロマンドの明るく、原色調の音色、サン・サーンスの終楽章の大迫力のオルガンは、こたえられない魅力。デッカの録音もきわめて優秀。同じ頃に録音された、思索的なミュンシュの『オルガン付き』と聴き比べてみるのも楽しいかもしれない。

　ミュンシュ＆ボストン響のサンサーンズ３と録音が同時期でアナログ録音のためか、ミュンシュの音に非常に良く似ていると感じました。ただ第一楽章の循環主題の一部分に乱れがあったので星４つとさせていただきました。しかし、重厚感もあり決して悪い演奏ではないので、興味のある方には是非聴いていただきたいと思います。
