この作品でまず挙げたいのは、主人公をはじめ、キャラクターの性格が真っ直ぐなところです。見ていて気持ちいいです。この作品は巧い技法を取り入れていて話の後半になるほど驚く場面がたくさんありますが、私はここでのり子の成長を挙げておきたいと思います。３巻では見違える程になってます。
そして最終話はモノクロです。ラストの部分ではそれが突然カラー画面へと移り変わるのですが、その「モノクロ」から「カラー」への画像の急激な変化によって、普段私達は忘れている「あるモノ」の美しさを際立たせ、その時の赤と青の色合いは格別です。もし最終話が初めからカラーであったなら、最後の場面でのあの色合いの「衝撃」は半減したことと思います。
また、その突然の画像の変化と同時に流れる爽快なエンディングテーマとが見事にマッチして、史上最高の演出を施します。その瞬間、エンディングととともに第１話から最終話までの想いが一気に胸にこみ上げてくるはずです。そしてその時気づきました。第１話の時には何て事ないと思っていたこの作品に対する「価値観」が変わってた事に。
ぜひ多くの方に見てもらいたい作品です！

この作品が発表されたのは1988年、今から17年も昔の作品（2005年現在）である。
この作品を勧められて初めて見たときは、まず閉口したものだ。
なにせ、第一巻では今はなき熱血スポ魂漫画調で、さらには巨大ロボットの戦闘。
何故こんなマニアックなものが面白いのかと首を傾げた。
だが、中途半端なのも嫌なので二巻を見てみると、悔しいことに面白かった。
なにが一番かと言われたら、人間のやり取りの上手さ、そして演出。それに尽きる。それは三巻にもいえることだ。
さらに三巻にいたっては、宇宙の時間の概念を上手く利用した演習が用いられており、見ている側を驚かせてくれる。
さらに、最後には感動のクライマックスが用意されている。

今ではレンタルビデオショップで300円程度で借りられるので、騙されたつもりで一度見てもらいたい。

１、２はこの３のためにあるとも言える。
前作まではただのマニア向け映像に終わりそうな気配を見せていたが、素晴らしいストーリー展開、キャラクターの成長、ノリの良いロボットアクション、とことん巨大な設定、緻密な作画水準とすべてがレベルアップしてシリーズの締めくくりを見事に果たした。

スカッとして、最後はジーンと感動できるアニメ史上に間違い無く残る強力な作品。
作画面でも美樹本晴彦のキャラクターを完璧に動かしている稀有な作品。
