セルフ･カバー。
優れたソング･ライターとして、多くのアーティストに楽曲を提供している
中島みゆき。
その聴き覚えのある曲を、ライターである彼女自身が歌っているのです。
その完成度は言うまでもなく、それでいて最初に歌っていたアーティストの
個性を壊さない歌です。
「おかえりなさい」というタイトルが、彼女のさりげなさを語っています。

さぁ、みゆきワールドへ。

第１曲「あばよ」からしてかなりのインパクトがある。
研ナオコ版があっさりとしていたのに対し、ねっちりきっちりとしている。
その分思い入れが深く、その思い入れが十分伝わってきてよい。
「この空を飛べたら」も加藤バージョンとははるかに違い、
遅いテンポと泣きながらの歌唱に作者の心がよく伝わってくる。

暗めの歌に名曲が多いが、「髪」「強がりはよせヨ」は
その中でもとりわけ内向的な曲で果てしなく孤独で切なく、深く心の奥に残る。
歌謡曲風な雰囲気もあるが、こういう伴奏の曲はもう２度と出てこない気がする。

このアルバムの白眉は「ルージュ」。みゆきさんの素人っぽい語り口が印象的。
最後の繰り返しなど本当に感動的。ここまで一人の人を思い詰めたことはないけれど、
とってもうなずける内容なのは、みゆきさんの歌に説得力があるせいかな。
歌唱力抜群のちあきなおみのバージョンがもう一つ感動が足りないのも、
このみゆきバージョンがとても説得力があるからだと思う。
テレビドラマの中で、飲み屋で日吉みみが歌っていた「世迷い言」、
とってもなつかしい。めずらしく歌詞はみゆきさんが担当していない曲で、
メロディラインがとっても癒し系。　
桜田淳子に作った３曲はあまりみゆきさん向きではないようで、少しがっかり。
「雨...」も少し力みすぎていて残念。

他の歌手に作った曲集だけれど、
今となってはみゆきさんのレギュラーアルバムと同じくらいの価値があり、
わりとよく聞くアルバムの一つです。

　セルフカバー集シリーズの第１弾。研ナオコや桜田淳子に提供してヒットした「あばよ」「しあわせ芝居」などを収録。中島みゆきが歌うと、どうしてこんなにも違うのかと、うならせるほどの名演奏が並んでいる。このアルバムによって、彼女の魅力は詞や曲だけでなく、歌唱力にもあるということを改めて知らされます。
　後に続くセルフカバー集「御色なおし」「回帰熱」もおすすめだが、このアルバムが一番よくまとまっていると思う。
