5年前に解散したディジー・ミズ・リジーのヴォーカル/ギタリストが放つソロ・アルバム。力強くヘヴィなギター・サウンドと繊細で美しいメロディは聴きごたえ十分だ。

90年代中盤に甘く切ないメロディを満載したスタジオ・アルバム2枚を発表した後、惜しまれつつ解散した北欧デンマーク産パワー・ポップ・トリオ、ディジー・ミズ・リジー(以下DML)のティム・クリステンセン(vo、g)が、長きにわたる空白を経てようやく完成した初のソロ作品。往年のビートルズ・サウンドのスウィートな情感のみを煮詰め濃縮して新世代ならではのコンテンポラリーなロックと交配したDML流叙情表現は健在で、ソロ・プロジェクトとなった本作では要所でストリングス・アレンジなどにも凝りながら、ますます叙情性への耽溺傾向を強めている。一方、サウンドの面ではDMLのセカンド『ローテイター』(96年)の硬めのタッチを受け継いでおり、表情豊かなギターをじっくり聴かせるようなタイトでストレートな印象も。ひたすらエモーションに訴えながらも不思議とベタつかない独特の叙情感覚がユニークな魅力を放つ。 (平野和祥) --- 2001年04月号

世の中には天武の才というものがあるってことを感じてしまいました。若干２０歳そこそこでDizzyMizzLizzyというすばらしいバンドで日本でブレイクしながら、その後プライベートな事やなにかでバンドは解散、音沙汰もなくなっていました。正直このアルバムの発売が決まった時、嬉しさ７割、不安が３割といったところでした。アルバムを聞いての感想としては、やはり天才という事ですね。甘く憂いのある声、独創的なギタープレイ、何よりそのすばらしい楽曲。このアルバムは復帰作ということで多少内向的ではありますが、やはりその楽曲の個性は失われる事はありません。まだまだ２０台半ばなので、これからどんどん良い楽曲を生み出してくれる事でしょう。

Dizzy Miss Lizzyの解散から、音沙汰なく、どうしてるのかな・・・と心配していて、おぉぉ！ティムのアルバムが出ているではないか！！！と聞いてみると期待を裏切ることなく、バンドの時とは違う哀愁感と力強さが交錯した音と歌詞が散りばめられています。特に、キャタピラーはなかなか良いです。以前のＤＭＬの後期っぽさも感じられますが、全体的にはロック色は薄れています。しかし、ティムの楽曲の構成がしっかりしているので、そんな物足りなさは十分埋められると思います。

現代のメロディメーカーの中でトップクラスの才能。
それでいて歌もギターもえらくうまい。
映画なんかに採用されていたらメガヒットになっていたと思う。

ビートルズの影響を強く受けているそうで確かにそんな感じもある。

フーファイ、ヌーノのソロなんかが好きな人にもいいんでは。
