ブラックサバスのギタリスト、トニー・アイオミのソロアルバム。

聴いてみて、「やはりこの人はこういう事をやりたかったんだ」と納得しました。路線としては、ロニー・Ｊ・ディオが参加したアルバム「ヘブン＆ヘル」のようなメロディアス・ハードロックです。ボーカルがグレン・ヒューズなので、シャウトしても暑苦しくなく非常に耳に心地良く響きます。丁度グレン・ヒューズが参加した「PHENOMENA」にも通ずるものがあり、メロディアス・ハードロック・ファンにはたまらない作品だと思います。

ほとんど分解状態のブラックサバス。ヒューズ／スロール以来、ゲーリ・ムーアのアルバムなどにチラリと出始めていたグレン・ヒューズ。何となく業界にしっくりこなかった時期の二人のコラボレーションと言っていいでしょう。全体として、アイオミのブルージーなギターに、ヒューズの、全盛期の迫力はないけれど、十分にかっこよく、哀愁をおびたボーカルがマッチして、なかなかの作品になっています。オジーの居るサバスを想像した方は？と思うかもしれませんが、曲もなかなかよく、聞き応えはあるのでは。

１９８６年作品。メンバーは、トニー・アイオミ（ギター）、グレン・ヒューズ（ヴォーカル）、エリック・シンガー（ドラム）、ディブ・スピッツ（ベース）、ジェフ・ニコルズ（キーボード）。一応バンドの体裁はとっており、実際にライブも行われたが、内容はアイオミ＝ヒューズのコラボ色が強い。まあじっさい、サバス臭は皆無なので、サバスの一般的なファンには、敬遠されても仕方がないだろう。しかし、かといってこの作品が、単なる趣味の産物というわけでは、決してない。ヒューズの本気の歌いっぷりといい、サバスとは異なるベクトルを放つ、アイオミの実にバラエティに富んだギターといい、起伏のある本当に素晴らしい「聴かせる」ハードロックに仕上がっている。ちなみに私は、内ジャケで、初めてジェフ・ニコルズの容貌を知ったが、この人はサバス以外では、どんな活動をしていたんだろう。
