ゆらゆら帝国のメジャー進出後のサードアルバムは、以前に比べかなりポップ色が強く軽快な仕上がり。
じっくり聞いていると一つ一つの音がまるで頭の中でポコポコと弾けているように感じるほどに、
非常にリズミカルでアップテンポな曲が揃っている。
ジャケットの素晴らしく狂ったアートワークも、
坂本氏と同じく多摩美大出身の漫画家・しりあがり寿氏の近作を連想させ興味深い。

前作「ミーのカー」の胃の腑に響くような重厚さはないものの、
ナンセンス度合いを増した歌詞とともにシンプルでキャッチーな印象を与える良作になっている。
こういう変化を快く思わない旧来のファンもいるのだろうが、
結果的に薄味になるわけではなく洗練されスマートになっていくなら、そうそう否定するようなものでもないだろうと思う。

一聴して「以前のような暗い魅力が無くなった」と感じる向きもあるかもしれないが、
むしろ歌詞と合わせた坂本氏の悪意というかイジワル具合は増しているような気がしてならない。
特に、不自然なまでに明るい曲調で歌われる<4>の『待ち人』の歌詞は
まんま引きこもりの逃避願望を具現化しているようしか見えないのだが、俺の気の迷いだろうか？
「つぼみの中で春がくるのをじっとまっている　咲くかな　まだかな」って、車で逃げる『EVIL CAR』より救いがないよ・・。

初めて聴いたゆらゆら帝国がこの「III」だったのですが、
非常にポップなサウンドでとっつきやすい。
ゆらゆら帝国が「怖い音楽」と思っている人には
これを聴いたら180度考え方が変わると思う。
歌詞の世界も独特で面白いものがあるので
是非歌詞カードとにらめっこして、音楽を聴いてみて欲しい。
他にお薦めは「3×3×3」「ミーのカー」です。
どれも外れはなく、買って損はありません！

ゆらゆらだから、かっこ良くて当たり前なんだけど、マジでかっこいい。相変わらず声はねちっこくて、えろいし、ベースもうねりまくり。ギターもガンガン鳴ってて…｡初めて聴く人もきっとはまってしまうでしょう。ちなみに、私が一番好きだったのは、『幽霊の結婚式』です。他の曲とはちょっと違う雰囲気なんだけど、切ない感じがグッときましたよ。
