   『Doin' Something』はソウライブのブルーノート移籍第1弾、トータルでは2枚目にあたる作品。オルガンをベースにしたグルービーなジャズが売りのこのトリオだが、好評だったデビュー作『Turn It Out』を凌ぐ出来に仕上がっている。前作では彼らお得意のアシッド・ジャズや、ジャム・バンドとしての魅力をアピールするため、1発録りに近いライヴ風セッションだったが、『Doin' Something』はスタジオでじっくり時間をかけただけあって、オーバーダブを多様し、アルバム全体に斬新かつ多彩な統一感をもたらしている。ひとつのラインをもとに何回もジャム・セッションするのではなく、キャッチーなメロディーをもった歌物が中心になっている。ヒップホップ、ソウル、ファンク、ポップをうまくミックスした、ノリノリのジャズ・グルーブだ。ファンク色をさらに強め、エリック・クラスノ（ギター）とニール（オルガン）とアラン（ドラムス）のエバンス兄弟の3人組は、ジェームス・ブラウンのバッックのベテラン・トロンボーン奏者フレッド・ウェズレーを迎えて、4ピースのブラス・セクション（ウェズレーはホーン・アレンジも担当）を何曲かで披露している。このエネルギッシュな若きバンドの力作を聴けば、踊り出さずにはいられないはず。(Tad Hendrickson, Amazon.com)

ブルーノートの新世紀第１弾アーティストの栄誉を受けた、バンドです。このアルバムは全体的にスピーディーな曲が多いです。１曲目がわりと落ち着いた曲なのでこの路線でやるのかなと思いきや２曲目はいきなりパンチの効いた曲になってて、私の顔もニヤリとし、このままの調子でいくといいなと思ったら、期待道理の演奏をしてくれました！ジャズ、ブルース、ボサノヴァ、ファンクファンの人には是非聴いて欲しい１枚です！さすがに演奏は期待をうらぎらないうまさです！

ソウライブのソリッドなグルーブ感が詰め込まれた２枚目。
このアルバム後に見たブルーノートライブは鳥肌が立ちました。
１枚目の「ターン・イット・アウト」をさらに押し進めながらも
クールさは保たれているバランス感。
３枚目はサックスが全面に入っているので、よりグルーブ重視なら
１、２枚目が気持ちいいでしょう。
