ロックに"ブラス"すなわち金管楽器や木管楽器を取り入れたスタイルをブラスロックと定義するならば、ロック創成期には"エーメン・コーナー"や"ザ・バッキンガムズ"といった先駆者がいました。
　創立者アル・クーパーがこのBS&T結成で意図したのは、単にロックとジャズあるいはクラシックの融合というよりは、新しいロックのスタイルを模索する必然として、ロックとしては目新しいこれら楽器を取り入れた。と解釈した方が釈然といたします。
　色気のあるアル・クーパーぶしが堪能できる2.6.7.12など気に入ってますが、8ではギターのスティーヴ・カッツが牧歌的な歌声を披露しています。自身を生涯オルガニストと定義するアル・クーパーですが、7ではキレのあるピアノを叩いてます。オマケ!のテイク13~15は価値ある貴重な録音ですね。
　セカンドアルバムからのBS&Tを期待する人は裏切られるでしょうが、ロック色が色濃く出ています。
　ギターグループの場合60'~70年代の音となるとどうしても古さを感じてしまうものですが、異種混合音楽・ミクスチャーやワールド・ミュージックがひと段落ついた現在、古びているどころか、作品が今なお最先端を一人走りしてるような錯覚にとらわれます。
