雨降りの日が舞台になっているこの歌は、刻まれ続けるギターのビートと繰り返し奏でられるキーボードの電子音メロディが主題となり、時間の流れるスピードと同じ速さで歌が流れていく。
繰り返し奏でられるキーボードの主旋律はとめどなく振り続ける雨の音のように聴こえる、または瞳から止まることなくはらはら落ちる涙のようにも思える。
微妙な感情の揺れと日常的なしぐさをぽつぽつと歌いながら、主人公は旅に出ようぜと歌う。思い切り泣いたり、笑ったりしようぜと歌う。
情熱や誰かを愛しく強く思う気持ちっていうのは、かっこいいとかかっこ悪いとかという問題ではなくて、それを高々と歌い上げるというポーズがかっこ悪いだけなんだ、と再認識させてもくれる。
ぽつりぽつりと語られながら、静かにクライマックスを迎えてゆく楽曲は、だんだんと音と音が重なり合ってゆく。なにげない毎日の中に隠された情熱が蠢いている、そんな気持ちを爆発させる手段ももたないままぽつぽつと語りだす主人公は、まるで自分達のようにも感じる。
ジンジャーエール飲むたびに、思い出す歌。

まず、ミキちゃんをコーラスに選ぶことが最高。やっぱ岸田すごい。はまってる。

なんとなくきいていたら知らない内に泣いていた。
夜明けにひとりで聴いてみてください。
こころにすーっと溶けていくようです。

くるりの必殺チューン！
いつまで経っても代表曲のひとつであり続ける、くるり史上畢生の名曲だと思います。
スーパーカー（「元」になっちゃいましたが）のミキさんのコーラスも実にいい感じ。
で。
「ばらの花」があまりに素晴らしいので、その陰に隠れてしまった感も、無きにしも非ず（じゃあないかな）と思うのですが、カップリングの２曲も相当ハイクオリティだと。
これが表題曲じゃないんですから――凄ェ。
