飽きるほどいろんな第九を聴いてきたけれど、この第九は間違いなくトップクラスに入る。このThe Originalシリーズで復刻してくれたのでFricsayに出会えたが、このCDを見つけるまでまったく彼を知らなかった。知らないところからこんな名盤があったなんて、もう第九は大概のものは聴いたなんて思っていた自分としては本当に驚きだった。カラヤンはいずれにしても名匠となりベルリンフィルを率いただろうが、もし彼が生きていたら、いくつかの場面で（たとえばザルツブルグ音楽祭）彼と地位を争うことになったかもしれないと本当に思う。
重々しいのに暗くなく、輝かしいのに軽くなく、こんな清明で第九をベルリンフィルに歌わせた指揮者が他にいただろうか。
ぜひたくさんの人に聞いてもらって、カラヤンの77(6)年、バイロイトの第九に勝るとも劣らない名盤として記憶されてほしいと思う。

5.0 out of 5 stars 隠しておいてはいけない「隠れた名盤」, 2005/1/3
フリッチャイという指揮者はビッグネームになる前に亡くなってしまったので、「知る人ぞ知る」存在に甘んじているわけだが、もし名前を知らないからと言ってこのような演奏が聴かれないというなら、非常にもったいない話だと思う。
「音が生きている」と言うのは、このフリッチャイ／ＢＰＯの第九のようなことを言うのではないだろうか。
すでに命数を悟っているフリッチャイの異常な精神力を、フルトヴェングラー時代の表現力と合奏力を残したＢＰＯが余すところなく受け止め、音にして放射しているような演奏である。
マイナーなので売れないからかもしれないが、レコード会社も管弦楽の悪しきステレオタイプのようなディスクばかり宣伝しないで、このようなディスクを売る努力をすれば、将来的にはもっと裾野の広い商売が出来るのではないだろうか。

最高といわれている、フルトヴェングラーの第九を聞いても、僕はあまり感動を覚えませんでした。おそらく、録音状態のせいもあるんでしょう、。
それに比べて、この第九はとってもすばらしい！よく整っているし、なによりＦ＝ディースカウのバリトンソロが天に昇っていくような感じで、ぜひ聞いてほしいと思います。
