予告編のみ使用のモーツァルト「レクイエム」や、ごく一部の楽曲、そして主題歌を除く、ほぼすべての劇中音楽を収めた１枚。
正直、ここに記載されている曲名は、ちょっとどうかと感じる部分もなくもないが、内容的にはもちろん、申し分ないものである。

いつものようにワルシャワ・フィルと組んだ天野氏渾身のスコアは、鳴りひびく旋律に思う存分物語らせる傾向が強い、アニメーション音楽の時とは異なるアプローチで、映像など、他の要素と組み合わされてはじめてパーフェクトなものとなるように設計されているように感じられ、その試みはどうやら、成功したと言っていいだろう。

ブックレットに掲載の写真も、他のBR関連書籍に載ったものとは微妙に異なるカットが多く、そういった面からも、楽しめるのではないだろうか。

なお、このサントラで天野ワールドに魅せられ、何かもう１枚、という方には、『ジャイアント・ロボ』も悪くはないのだが、やや独特な世界でもあるので、ここはひとまず、（前述のような）アニメーション音楽のためのアプローチのひとつの到達点ともいえ、BRの音楽とはまた異なるタイプの感動がある『海のオーロラ』をおすすめしておこう。

This is the best soundtrack! The music is emotion-packed and beautiful! I highly recommend this Soundtrack to anyone who likes classical or emotional music! It fits with the movie so well!

これ以上のサウンドトラックが今まであっただろうか？
というぐらいすごくいい。
ＢＲを愛す者にとっては、家に届いてＣＤケースをダンボールから出すだけで手が震えると思う。私は震えたから。ＣＤのジャケットは、３年Ｂ組の集合写真、モノクロ。

私は「レクイエム」が欲しくてこのＣＤを買ったけど、どの曲も最高によかった。最後まで聴いたら、また１番から、の繰りかえし。いつまで聴いても飽きることはない。買って損する人なんて絶対いないと思う。
３年Ｂ組の生徒の顔がカラーでも全部載ってるから、映画で「この人の名前なんていうんだろう？」って思った人はこれで確認することもできる。
