故兼田氏の2番目のアルバム。
兼田氏のオーケストレイションは基本に忠実でありながら、大胆な和声進行などその分工夫点は多い。
解説書も氏によるもので、作曲者ならでは。
中には闘病生活の事も書かれているが、心から音楽が好きなんだなと感じる。

以前、山下一史指揮する東京佼成ＷＯの演奏発売されたCDで数曲は同じ曲である。

交響的音頭は、使っている楽器が微妙に違うので聞き比べてみるのも面白いと思う。
数箇所バンドと打楽器がかみ合っていないところが惜しまれる。

ブレーン社からの法人作品集の第４作目。
惜しくもこの世を去られた兼田敏氏の作品集としては
ベストのものではなかろうか。
中でも圧巻は第８５回定期演奏会でも取り上げられる
吹奏楽のためのパッサカリアであろう。
氏のオーケストレーションの見事さが市音の演奏によって
絶妙な響きを作り上げる。

ビロードが何枚も重なっていくように音が重ねられる様は
思わず身震いさせられる。
タイトルにもなっている嗚呼！は
同楽団による録音”風紋”のCDとあわせて聴けば
より味わい深い物となろう。

3.0 out of 5 stars ＥＭＩの兼田敏作品集の追加資料, 2004/2/28
東芝ＥＭＩから出ている「兼田敏作品集」以降に書かれた作品がメインのＣＤ。演奏はＥＭＩの東京佼成の方が出来が良いと思うが、こちらも熱演が感じられる。特に最後の行進曲「わかくさ」はゴキゲン。残念なのは「若人の歌」が単調すぎたこと。天理高校の演奏が頭にあるのが原因だと思うが、もっと良い曲だと思う。
