前作『僕は鳥じゃない』から1年3ヵ月ぶりのニュー・アルバムが誕生。ストレートな歌詞と素朴で優しさに満ちたヴォーカルで、日常の何気ない風景や愛の形をひとつ一つ丹念に表現している。

一見乙女チックでかわいらしく見えるその世界も、じっくり味わってみるとそこには暗い闇が広がっていたり、ドキッとさせられるコワサが潜んでいたりする谷山ワールド。15ヵ月ぶりになる谷山浩子の新作は今回も変わることなく、そんな彼女独特のファンタジックな世界を伝えている。
アルバム・タイトルは収録曲「犬を捨てに行く」の歌詞にある言葉だが、そのフレーズも“闇はわたしの心のすみか”と重く、“捨てられに行く子犬はわたし”と、これもドキッとさせられる。またそんな世界をおどろおどろしく表現するのではなく、透明感のある清らかな歌声で表現されるところに、彼女ならではのコワクて清らかな、独特のムードが創出される。
さらに今回は岩男潤子、由紀さおり・安田祥子姉妹といった外部の作品提供も話題だが、それとて彼女らしさと違和感なく溶け込んで素直に聴けてしまう。サウンド的にはヴァリエーションに富んでいて、飽きずに聴かせてくれる。 (角野恵津子) --- 2001年02月号

谷山浩子さんのアルバムを始めて聞く方にオススメしたいＣＤ。
せつない恋や感情。そして彼女しか持っていない世界観が
聴覚から私たちを揺り動かしてくる。
捨てられる犬になり不思議な少女を追い大切なやくそくをする。
大人になって忘れたものを見つけるような錯覚におそわれるが
決して忘れたものじゃなく。

ずっと生まれてから死ぬまでもっているものをあらためて見直せるのだ。

「大事なものはあるの？」ときかれて「はい」と
もう一度笑えるように自分から願える想いをもてる曲をどうぞ堪能あれ。

抑制の効いたアレンジがよい。歌詞に重点を置きファンタジックでノスタルジックな音世界を紡ぎ出す。日本では貴重な存在。
