初のベスト盤、そう言ってもいいのだろうか? 新曲(1)(2)(3)(4)、PUFFY(9)(10)とユニコーン(12)のセルフ・カヴァー、ライヴ録音の(13)があって、既発曲は5曲のみ。しかも、その全曲が車、またはドライヴをキーワードにしたナンバーばかり。才人ならではの、新世紀冒頭から余裕のひと息といったところか。しかし、70年代的な力強いバンド・アンサンブルと、ラフな言葉の羅列がメロディとなってイメージさせる景色の鮮やかさには、あらためて驚嘆するしかない。優雅な湾岸ドライヴではない。そのほとんどは渋滞で山道で雨降りだ。なのにどうして、こんなに気持ちいいのか。“希望”と言ったら嘘臭いが“どうにかなるさ”なら乗り切れる。飄々としているがあきらめてるわけじゃない、そんな気分が、時代と僕たちの間で、民生の曲を名曲として鳴らすのだろう。セカンド『30』のシークレット・トラックだったボビー・ヘブのカヴァー(8)の収録は、30代以上なら確実にグッとくる、あの名車に捧げるナイス・プレイ。 (松永良平) --- 2001年01月号

　普通、車を運転しているときに聴く音楽というのはテンポが速く乗りのいいいかにもロックといった感じのものが多いのですが、そういう曲を流しているときにはまる渋滞というのは余計にストレスがたまるものです。しかしこのアルバムの曲は若干スローテンポで運転中に聞いているとスピードを楽しむというよりも周りの景色や雰囲気を楽しみたいという気持ちになれるそんなアルバムです。このアルバムさえあれば渋滞も心地よく、ただもっと乗っていたいと感じることができるでしょう。

このアルバム、車をテーマにした”ベスト盤”ではあるんだけど、新曲４曲も入ってます。特に、「トランスワールド」はおすすめ。奥田民生によるＵＫサウンドっていうのもカッコイイですよ。この曲、矢野顕子が、ニューアルバム「Reverb」でカヴァーしてます。
それと、奥田民生による「サーキットの娘」は、なかなかメチャクチャで、
面白いです。

車に乗ってなくても、
乗ってる気分になれるアルバムです。
民生さんの曲の中に、
井上陽水奥田民生、パフィー、ユニコーンの曲もあります。
車に乗りながら、超お天気だったり、雨だったり、
車が快調にぶっとばしてくれたり、エンストしたり。
いろんなシチュエーションと気分を味わえます。
ほんまに車好きなんやなあ〜。
個人的には「トランスワールド」ライブで聴いたときの、
暗闇の中に一人取り残された感が衝撃的で忘れられません。
あと、「Ａｎｄ　Ｉ　Love car」は、
「相手は車ですかぁ〜」って突っ込みたくなる、
でもハッピーな曲です♪
