８０年のニューミュージックのファースト。ボーナス７曲。ジャケットからくるイメージ通りのヒーリングミュージックっぽくもあり、どれもさらりとした清涼感溢れる曲ばかり。初期のシンセサウンドという事もあり、日本の８０年代の歌謡曲に近い気もするので日本人向けな音楽です。#6「this world of water」がいい。繰り返し何度も聴いてしまう素晴らしい名曲。#1も#2も#8もい。全部良いのだな、結局。

A-ha、Naked Eyesなどの（一発屋が多いな）80年代を彩ったバンドのプロデューサーとして有名なトニー・マンスフィールドが率いたバンドである。

ニューウェーヴ華やかなりし79年から82年に活動、レコード会社の倒産などによりすぐ解散してしまったものの、
『From A to B』『Anywhere』『Warp』という三枚の忘れがたいアルバムを残している。
今回取り上げる『From A to B』は、トニーのブリティッシュ・ポップ嗜好がもっとも色濃く出たアルバムとして名高い。

基本的には時代を反映してテクノポップなのだが、さすがは名プロデューサー・トニー、
当時掃いて捨てるほどあったリズムボックスにチープなシンセで……という安いエレポップ（これはこれで味があるが……）とは一線を画している。

緻密なアレンジ、ギターを効果的に使った音楽性の幅の広さ、ビートルズなどの系列にあるブリティッシュポップのメロディー。
本人は「ラジオ・ミュージック」と当時のサウンドを評している。
60年代から70年代のラジオ番組から流れてくるような、ポップで胸踊る曲を作りたかったのだという。
なるほど、まるでギターポップとテクノポップの中間ともいうべきポップの王道を突き進むサウンド。
「わかってらっしゃる！」とでも言いたくなる。

タイトルの通り、「A面からB面まで」微笑ましく瑞々しさに溢れた、ポップ・ミュージックの傑作。

　1980年代の初頭にリリースされたニューミュージックのデビューアルバム、80年代初頭の作品なのにサウンドが非常にスカスカしていてキレが良く、スネアドラムの「バシッ」という歯切れ良い音が心地よい。楽曲もポップで1曲目のストレートラインの非常にキャッチーなメロディーに圧倒される。バンドのリーダーのトニーマンスフィールドは60年代のビートルズやムー具シンセサイザー奏者のカーロスなどを愛してやまない音楽オタクで、ボコーダーの使い方や逆回転を効果的に使用する（普通ではない）音作りのセンスに納得させられる。今回のＣＤ化で加えられたボーナストラックが充実していて、アルバム収録曲を凌ぐ佳曲が多い。たとえば「シーズマガジン」はシングルＢ面曲なのだが、これがＢ面なのというくらいポップな良曲、最後の「アンド」も「なぜこれがアルバムから外れるの？」というくらい大好きな曲で、この曲のエンディングの部分は天上の音楽とでも形容できるくらい素晴らしい音楽、このＣＤがリリースされた時期が春で、僕は花粉症の薬で頭がぼんやりした状態で「アンド」の終末部を聴くのが好きで、擬似トリップ体験に酔いしれていた時期があった。これがきっかけでマンスフィールドの世界にはまるきっかけとなり、プロデュース作品など枝葉を伸ばしていくことにつながった。
