個人的に大好きな作品。イントロ、「GUITARHYTHM」のサビを女性ゴスペルのアカペラが唄い幕を開ける一大ロックサーカス。矢継ぎ早に近未来的な硬い「BEAT EMOTION」に続く。「SLOW MOTION」のまさにパラシュートで地上に落ちていくような感覚。まるで布袋版「ジギー・スターダスト」のよう。「SPHINX」の新鮮な音の遊び。映画のワンシーンを切り取ったような「ANGEL WALTZ」。初期の名曲「You」。繰り返し聴きたくなる「ROCK’N’ ROSE」。「FLY INTO YOUR DREAM」のような曲を最近も書いてくれているのかな？「METROPOLIS」「NOT FOR SALE」佳曲揃い。最後にボウイの「STARMAN」で大団円を迎えます。もっと評価されて良いアルバムだと思います。
次作で兄貴に変身してしまう布袋さんですがGUITARHYTHM2の感触が一番好きです。聴いたことが無い方にオススメです。

単なるロックの領域を超え、音楽全般としても魅力満載の２枚組アルバム。ゴスペル調の『GUITARHYTHM REPRISE』、シングル『BEAT EMOTION』、イントロから魅力の『DEVIL'S SUGAR』、クリアなサウンドで攻めるエレキのインスト『GUITAR LOVES YOU』、ハウスな感じの『LIBIDO』、ノリノリの『MERRY-GO-ROUND』『RADIO!RADIO!RADIO!』、メロディが際だつ『NOT FOR SALE』など、書いても書ききれないほど素晴らしい曲が詰まっている。コンプレックスの後のアルバムでしたが、布袋の才能を思い知らせるアルバムだと思います。

↓下の方が言ってること、正解です。
最近の曲からファンになった私ですが、
こんな深みのある曲も作る人なんだ…って感動しました。
アルバム２枚が全体を通して「魂が旅をする」という
一つのテーマにそって作られていて、流れがあり、
かつ１曲1曲がどれもすばらしいです。
最近の布袋さんしか聞いたことがない人は聞いてみてください。

物語を読んでいるような気分になれました。
