このコンピレーション盤は凄い。どの曲も一般的な認知度は低いですが、その完成度の高さには圧倒されてしまいます。佐野元春の本当の”凄さ”がこの作品に凝縮されているといっても過言ではないでしょう。よく、「シングルのB面（カップリング）の曲にこそ、そのアーティストの真実がある」と語られますが、まさにそれを証明するような1枚。ここに収録された曲はどれも、シングル化されたものではありませんが、ミュージシャンとしての佐野元春がいかに優れているかを証明するかのような傑作コンピレーション盤となっています。佐野元春について全く知らない人が今作を聴いたら、その凄さに度肝を抜かれることでしょう。迷うことなく★5つ。今作を聴いて、思いきり腰を抜かしてください。長年、彼の音楽に接してきた僕でさえ、その完成度の高さに唖然としてしまった程です。

元春のデビュー20周年を記念して制作されたベスト盤ではあるが、前作"20th Anniversary Edition"と比較すればあまりにプライベートで、彼の心の内面を垣間見るようなアルバムである。もし、このアルバムを手にとる人が"SOMEDAY"や"ガラスのジェネレーション"などの彼の表の面を期待しているのならばこのアルバムは受け入れられないだろうし、収録曲である"君の訪れる日"や"欲望"などで唄われる彼のもう一つの面に共感を持っている人ならば、きっと気に入ってもらえるだろう。このアルバムは、彼と同じくナイーブな精神を持った人たちにあてたプレゼントみたいなものかもしれない。僕はこのアルバムが好きである。

このアルバムは、佐野元春のB面的要素と様々な音楽的要素の詰まっています。ポップな面以外にビートルズをはじめとするブリティッシュロック的元春も堪能できます。楽曲としては日の目に当たりづらい曲が多いですが、コンセプチュアルアルバムとしてのできばえはとてもいいと思います。このアルバムを発売で、元春の音楽的スタンスを再認識するようになり、ここ１年間位で一番聞いている元春のアルバムになりました。佐野元春ファンでも、このアルバム聞いてない人いるんじゃないかな。ぜひ聞いてくれ！
