いっつもthe brilliant greenの音楽は、言葉で形容し難いナニカを持って耳にやってくる。
いつもそう。
感覚とか雰囲気とか、もしくは匂いとかでしか形容できない。
リスナーがそんなモヤモヤ感を抱えてたりするのをよそに
作詞を勤めるトミーは、タイトルでずばりとその答えを言ってのけてる。
長いため息のようにってさ。
しかし曲を聴き進めると、またもや何を言い表したいのか、何も言い表したくなんかないのか
きれいな言葉の響きとは裏腹に、リスナーにそっぽむいてるかのような表現で、曲は淡々と進む。
そして聴き終えたあとに残るモノもやっぱりまた、雰囲気とか匂いとしか表現できないようなモノだったりするね。

そういうのってまさに、誰も真似しようのない唯一無二なモノなんだよね。

さて、この曲はthe brilliant greenの中でも数ある暗めな曲たち以上に独特な暗さがある。
絶望のちょっと向こう側にいるようなひとが歌ってるような、
容易には受け止めきれない漠然としたダークネスがある。
聴いてるとしんみりするし、切なくなるケド、聴き終えたあとに広がる匂いには、少しだけ前向きな匂いが含まれていたりもする。
そういうモノを音楽にしようとする感性とか、才能とかって
やっぱスゴくすてきだよね。

この楽曲は、本来「そのスピードで」が主題歌となっていたドラマの副主題歌としてリリースされていたものである。内容は、はっきりいって、それほど明るくはない。だが、それが川瀬のある種独特な声質に極めてマッチしている。ライブなどで締めの曲として使われることもおおい。変な言い方をすれば、ブリグリ版「ほたるのひかり」とでもいえようか。
