11月26日の渋谷公会堂でのライヴをもって活動休止するグニュウツールの、2枚組のベスト・アルバム。1枚目は三人編成時の選曲、2枚目はJAKE脱退後二人になってからの選曲で、各14曲。バンドというより多面的な表現集団だった彼らは、とにかく強い美意識が感じられる音を常に作っていた。特にUKロックの流れを感じさせて、グラム・ロック的な匂いもあったし、ネオアコの清涼感も湛えていた。早くからギター・サウンドと打ち込みの融合も試みていた。そんな美しい曲ばかり28曲を一気に聴くのは、まさに圧巻。 (楡崎明生) --- 2000年12月号

グニュウツール初めてな人は、まずこれを聴いてみるといいでしょう。2枚組みで中々のボリュームです。概要がわかると思います。でもやっぱアルバムも聴いて欲しいです。Disc1は3人組時代、Disc2はJAKE脱退後の2人時代の曲が収録されてます。1と2では大分方向性が異なっていて、面白いです。シングルのカップリングとかアルバム未収録曲も一部入っているのでシングルが手に入らない人もどうぞ。

ベストアルバムらしく、全体的に聴きやすい曲が多いです。
とは言っても、聴く人を選ぶ音楽ですが…(笑)
私はこれを買った後、オリジナルアルバムを集めました。
入り口として最適だと思います。
V系っぽい歌い方が平気な方は一度お試しあれ。
やはり、ベストアルバムを発売するタイミングは解散・活動停止の時期が一番美しいですね。
