中学の時、文化祭で観たい映画をリクエストで決めた。長嶋引退の記録映画だった。そのくらい私以上の年齢層に長嶋という男は特別だ(私はレイソル・ファンなのだが)。その長嶋の記録ビデオのために冨田勲が書下ろし、自らタクトを振ったCD。彼は『ジャングル大帝』やNHKの数々の名番組テーマ曲、またクラシックのシンセサイザーでのリメイクなど、音楽界を引っ張ってきた。今回の音も名作ドキュメント・フィルムのBGMのような時代感がある。特に6曲目に入っている背番号90時代の長嶋のテーマに男の哀愁を感じる。 (池崎晴) --- 2001年01月号
