たまりませんなぁ。達人・職人・シカゴNo.1の腕利きギタリストと言われたアール・フッカーの６０年代初期、Chief/Age/USA録音をズドンと揃えたＣＤだ。ＢＢキングにロバートJrロックウッド、バディ・ガイにオーティス・ラッシュといった巨人達が尊敬して止まない偉人である。１９７０年に４０歳の若さで逝ってしまったが、すっげぇ音源をＣＤ数枚分残してくれている。
近年ＤＶＤ化され多くのブルース愛好家を興奮させたヨーロッパでの「American Folk Blues Festival」の映像を観てアール・フッカーを知った方も多いかもしれない。ボーカルをめったにとらないギター・オンリーの彼だが、リーダー作も結構出ている中、やはりこのＣＤが本命でまず最初に欲しいところだろう。
スライドも自在に操り、そのテクニックと歌心は天下一品。自身が歌わないのでインストが多いが絶品ぞろいだ、代表曲多数収録。ジュニア・ウェルスや女性シンガーのリリアン・オフェット、サックス奏者のＡＣリードやリッキー・アレン（Cut You Looseで有名）、ジャッキー・ブレストン（Rocket 88で有名）と組んでのナンバーも素晴らしい。全２９曲の大盤振る舞いなのでじっくり楽しませていただきましょう。同時期のジュニア・ウェルスの作品でも活躍してるので要チェック。
