ショパンのポロネーズは楽曲の中でも比較的ポピュラーであり、その分ピアニストも演奏において随所に個性を発揮しています。しかし聴き手からすればピアニストの変な個性や解釈は邪魔であり、陳腐な高揚の付け方などされては興ざめであるとお思いの方も多いでしょう。
出来ればショパンの楽曲そのものを正統に演奏されているCDを手にしたいと思う方は相当数いると思います。

ルービンシュタインの演奏は、正統で、かつポロネーズの持つ雄大さを味わえる数少ないレーベルの一つです。
こう書くと中庸的な印象を与えてしまいますが、楽譜に忠実ながらも、理性的に抑制された極めてドラマチックな演奏を聴かせてくれます。
ルービンシュタインがいかにショパンの楽曲を愛していたかが伺えます。

間違いなくお薦めです。

男性的で極めてスケールの大きな見事な演奏です。私はルービンシュタインのショパン全集の中では、このポロネーズがピカイチだと思っています。彼の祖国ポーランドのポロネーズは、彼の最も得意とするレパートリーで、長年弾き込んできた年輪といったものが感じられ、どの作品も彼の掌中に完全に収まっていて見事な完成度であるばかりでなく、気力も充実しています。彼の太い指による強靭な打鍵と自信に満ちた堂々としたリズム、構成の確かさで、ショパンの祖国に対する「悲痛な叫び声」を共感を持って表現していて、とても感動させられます。

ポーランドが生んだショパンを同じ祖国のルービンシュタインが1950年12月と1951年5月に演奏した。その録音を高度なデジタル処理でノイズレス化してCDにしたもの。

ノイズは少ないがピアノが本来もっている豊かな響きが少ない印象を受けた。ルービンシュタインが快活な若々しい演奏をしていること、デジタル処理で多くの響きが消えていることから、とても硬い演奏に聞こえてしまう。
録音状態は決して良くないがルービンシュタインが好きなら聴く価値はあると思う。
